FDI, a collaboration between NFDA and FCH Sourcing Network, allows qualified industry participants to identify the trends they are experiencing in areas such as demand, pricing, inventories and outlook, through a monthly survey. Individual responses are kept strictly confidential, and the aggregate data are analyzed by BB&T Capital Markets.

The Fastener Distributor's Index (FDI) has been developed by BB&T Capital Markets and the FCH Sourcing Network to measure the operating conditions and sentiment within the North American industrial fastener distribution sector. The FDI is compiled monthly from survey input provided by qualified distributors, and results are published by BB&T Capital Markets, Fully Threaded Radio and in Fastener Technology International Magazine.
