Gilchrist Foundation Scholarship Applications Due May 1st

The Gilchrist Foundation Scholarship was established to assist any person planning to make a career in the fastener industry. Robbie & Gina Gilchrist’s wishes are to give something back to an Industry that provided so much for them. This perpetuating scholarship is the means by which to reward those persons who have the excitement and enthusiasm for the fastener industry experienced by Robbie & Gina Gilchrist. The Gilchrists thank you for your interest in applying for the scholarship, and your interest in the fastener industry.

The Gilchrist Foundation will award one or more scholarships annually.

Selection Criteria
The scholarship awards will be based on the following:

  • Academic achievements.
  • Recommendations of counselors & teachers.
  • An essay, written by the applicant, is a heavily-weighted category.
  • Financial need is considered, but is not necessarily considered an essential category.

Who Is Eligible
Those eligible for a scholarship are:

  • Children whose parent or legal guardian is employed by any company in the Fastener Industry and has the intentions of a career in the fastener industry.
  • Any employee of a company, who is currently enrolled in any course of education related to his/her job with the intent of a career in the fastener industry.
  • Applicants can be at any level of their college or post-college careers.

The Essay
The essay should be typewritten by the applicant and include the following:

  • Any and all work experience in an around the fastener industry.
  • The applicant’s intended area of study in their chosen career.
  • Any areas of expertise already achieved in the fastener industry.
  • The goals the applicant expects to achieve in the fastener industry.
  • The means by which the applicant will strive to meet those goals.

Important
All applicants must strictly adhere to the following:

  • All applications must be sent via mail to: PO Box 6232, High Point, NC 27263 by June 1st each year.
  • All appropriate sections of the application must be completed. It is each applicant’s responsibility to be certain a company sponsor signs the application before it is submitted to the Gilchrist Foundation. A company sponsor includes any officer within the Company.

Following Recipient Selection

  • All applicants will receive notice of recipient status and recipients will be asked to provide additional information to the Gilchrist Foundation
  • Awards will be mailed directly to the recipient’s college.
